On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie
Goldman once again speaks with Strikeforce light
heavyweight champion and undefeated mixed martial
arts fighter "King" Mo Lawal (http://twitter.com/KingMO_GDP).
"King" Mo (7-0) will be making the first defense of
his title on Saturday, August 21, against Brazilian
fighter Rafael "Feijao'' Cavalcante (9-2), in the
main event of a Strikeforce card at the Toyota
Center in Houston, Texas. This card will be shown
live in the U.S. on Showtime.
We spoke Sunday afternoon by phone about this fight
and, as always, the combat sports. "King" Mo
explained his general approach to this fight, why he
does not like slugfests, and how the techniques of
boxing can be applied to and adapted for mixed
martial arts. He told us why Emanuel Augustus is his
favorite boxer, and we discussed some of the fights
from this past weekend, including the victory by
Timothy Bradley over Luis Carlos Abregu. He stated
that mixed martial arts is not as refined as boxing,
and said that in his fight with Feijao he will
borrow from the styles of some world-class boxers.
We also discussed wrestling, the different levels in
that sport in which he was a three-time U.S.
national freestyle champion, and the defunct Real
Pro Wrestling organization, in which he was also a
champion. And we discussed numerous other fighters
and fights from mixed martial arts, boxing, and
kickboxing, and much more.

world champion Robert Drysdale (http://www.drysdalejiujitsu.com).
He will be making his professional mixed martial
arts debut this Saturday, July 17, on the AFC 3:

in 2008, Robert Drysdale will now face Bastien
Huveneers (8-2-1) of Vancouver, a fighter who has
not lost since 2006.
We spoke with Robert Drysdale Saturday afternoon by
phone about his transition to mixed martial arts. He
explained why he has become a professional mixed
martial arts fighter, and why he enjoys boxing and
kickboxing while still remaining based in jiu-jitsu.
We also discussed the viability of a professional
league for some style of grappling, as well as
problems in the rules and format of jiu-jitsu events
which have hindered their appeal to fans. He also
outlined his extensive use of the Internet to
provide online training for people, and also expand
the influence of his schools, whose main
